✈️ The Last Day of Our Old Vizag Airport

Today marks the end of an unforgettable chapter in Vizag’s story. ❤️✈️

Vizag Airport began its civilian operations in 1981, with just one flight a day. Over the decades, it grew alongside the city, becoming an important gateway for millions of Vizagites and one of Andhra Pradesh’s busiest airports.

From the new runway inaugurated in 2007 to commercial ILS operations in 2008 and the present terminal becoming operational in 2009, the airport witnessed Vizag’s transformation year after year.

Operating as a civil enclave alongside the Indian Navy’s INS Dega, this airport was much more than a place for flights.

It was where we said goodbye to loved ones.Where we waited excitedly for someone to arrive.Where holidays began.Where careers took off.Where countless memories were made. ❤️

For generations of Vizagites, this airport became part of everyday life. Every departure and every arrival carried a story.

And today, that chapter comes to an end.

From August 17, civil flight operations will move to the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, opening a new chapter for Vizag and the region.

But airports are not just terminals and runways. They become part of a city’s memories.

Thank you, Vizag Airport, for being a part of our lives. ❤️

Your flights may stop tomorrow, but your memories will always remain a part of Vizag.

Vizag Forever ❤️✈️
