AP Sees Lowest Monsoon Rainfall in 13 Years 🌧️

The recent downpours tell only part of the story. Andhra Pradesh ended the June–September monsoon with 29% less rain than normal, making it the state’s driest in 13 years.

Total rainfall stood at 368.1 mm, compared with the usual 521.6 mm. The late September rain wasn’t enough to close that gap.

The picture differed across the state. Some coastal districts received normal or higher rainfall, while every Rayalaseema district recorded a shortfall. These figures cover Andhra Pradesh as a whole.

For farmers in several areas, weak rain during July and August meant delayed sowing and affected crops. Water availability and groundwater remain concerns after the season.
