Vizag’s Meghadrigedda Reservoir Under Major Study

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has ordered a detailed study of Meghadrigedda Reservoir, one of Vizag’s important drinking-water sources.
The reservoir is currently at around 47.7 feet, against its full level of 61 feet. Around 8.1 million gallons of water per day is being drawn from it.
Officials will study 10 years of water-level data and conduct a drone survey to identify silt accumulation, leaks and blocked channels.
Based on the study, GVMC plans desilting and dredging to restore the reservoir’s lost water-storage capacity.
