š¬ Vizagās Marine Life Is More Interesting Than You Think

Vizagās coastline isnāt just about beaches, sunsets and fishing. Just beyond the shore is a marine ecosystem supporting fish, prawns, cuttlefish and other marine species, while dolphins have also been documented along Indiaās coasts. š¬š
Visakhapatnamās fisheries ecosystem itself gives an idea of the richness of these waters. The district has a 67 km coastline, multiple fish landing centres, and a major fishing harbour where species such as shrimp, tuna, ribbon fish, seer fish, cuttlefish and carangidsĀ are landed.
And thereās more happening beneath the surface. Dolphins are among the marine mammals recorded in Indian waters, which is one reason scientific monitoring and conservation of marine ecosystems matter.
For most of us, the sea is where we go for an evening walk, a sunset or a weekend break. š
But beyond what we can see from the beach is a living system that supports marine species, coastal communities and a major part of Vizagās economy. šš¬š
Protecting Vizagās coast therefore isnāt just about keeping the beach clean. It means protecting the ecosystem beneath the waves too.Ā šš±
