🐘 Vizag Hosts National World Elephant Day Celebrations


Visakhapatnam hosted the national World Elephant Day 2026 celebrationsĀ on August 13, bringing together government officials, forest officials, wildlife experts and conservationists.

The event featured the Gaj Gaurav Awards 2026, recognising outstanding contributions to elephant conservation and management. šŸ˜šŸ†


A ₹500 crore regional action planĀ was also announced to address human-elephant conflict across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with a focus on protecting elephant corridors, habitats and local communities. 🌿

The national-level event puts Vizag in the spotlight for wildlife conservation and environmental initiatives.


Pawan Kalyan highlighted Andhra Pradesh's approach of ā€˜Conflict to Coexistence’ in dealing with human-elephant conflict. He also spoke about the State's H.A.N.U.M.A.N. initiative, which uses technology, community participation and stronger frontline forest teams to improve wildlife protection.
