Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has urged the Central Government to implement stronger and time-bound measures to address pollution caused by port operations in the city.
During a meeting with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, in New Delhi, the MP submitted a detailed representation highlighting the growing environmental concerns linked to expanding industrial and port activities in Visakhapatnam.
He emphasized that while the city's ports play a vital role in economic development, environmental protection should remain a top priority. Stressing the need to balance growth with sustainability, he called for effective pollution control measures to protect public health and improve the quality of life for residents.
The representation reflects the increasing demand for cleaner and more sustainable development as Visakhapatnam continues to grow as one of India's major port cities.
