Marikavalasa Gurukulam Row: Protests Over Centre of Excellence Plan 🎓

A controversy is growing around the Tribal Welfare Gurukulam at Marikavalasa, with parents and tribal organisations protesting the proposed changes to the campus.

➡️ 🏫 Government plan: The existing campus is proposed to become a Centre of Excellence, offering specialised coaching for exams like NEET and IIT-JEE.

➡️ ❓ Why the protests? Parents and tribal representatives are concerned about the future of the existing residential school and its students.

➡️ 👨‍🎓 Students: Protesters have also raised concerns about students being shifted to other campuses during the transition.

➡️ 🏛️ Government position: Officials have indicated that the Marikavalasa Gurukulam will continue, while the Centre of Excellence proposal is also being pursued.

🔎 The key question now is how competitive-exam education can be strengthened without affecting the existing tribal residential education system and its students.
