🤖 Google Responds to Concerns Over Vizag AI Hub

Google has responded to concerns around its $15 billion AI Hub in Vizag, particularly about water and power usage.

➡️ Water: Google says the data centre will use air-cooling technology and plans to replenish 120% of its non-cooling water use by 2030 through rainwater harvesting, watershed management and groundwater recharge.

➡️ Power: Google says it will support new power infrastructure and has agreements for 275.4 MW of wind and solar power in Andhra Pradesh.

Google estimates the project could support 9 additional jobs in the surrounding community for every direct data-centre job and generate around $688 million in local economic activity annually once operational.

These are Google’s estimates, while questions around the project’s environmental impact and regulatory approvals continue to be examined.
