Godavari Water to Reach Anakapalli Tomorrow đź’§

A major water milestone for North Andhra is set for September 2, as Godavari water is scheduled to reach Anakapalli through the Polavaram Left Main Canal.
➡️ 💧 First phase: Around 30 TMC of water is planned to be brought towards Anakapalli.
➡️ 🌾 Agriculture: The first phase is expected to provide irrigation support to around 1.48 lakh acres and help stabilise a larger 2.87 lakh-acre ayacut.
➡️ 🚰 Drinking water: The project is expected to benefit around 4.23 lakh people across 143 villages in the first phase.
➡️ 📍 What about Vizag? Water for the Visakhapatnam region is planned in the next phase. Work towards extending the system to Mehadri Gedda is targeted for completion by March next year.
➡️ 🌊 Bigger plan: Around 27 TMC has been earmarked for the Visakhapatnam region under the broader plan, with water to be stored and distributed through existing and proposed reservoirs.
This means Godavari water is reaching Anakapalli first; it does not mean water is reaching Vizag city tomorrow. The Vizag connection is part of the next phase.
