We usually see Vizag as apartments, roads, offices and traffic. But look at how much land sits behind the city we see every day. 👀

🏠 Residential: ~60,000 acres (Land we live on and use every day)

🏭 Steel Plant: ~33,000 acres

🌳 Kambalakonda: ~17,000 acres

⛰️ Simhachalam: ~11,000 acres

⚓ HPCL: ~2,500 acres

⚓ Naval Base: ~2,000 acres

🏢 BHEL: ~1,300 acres

🌲 Forest area: ~1,260 acres

🏛️ BHPV: ~393 acres

🏺 Thotlakonda: ~550 acres

⛰️ Kailasagiri: ~550 acres

🏗️ Government future use: ~5,000 acres

Vizag isn't just the buildings we see from the road. A huge amount of land is tied up in industry, defence, hills, forests, institutions and protected heritage areas.

And one number really stands out:

🏭 Vizag Steel Plant alone accounts for around 33,000 acres in the commonly cited campus figure. Meanwhile, Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary alone covers about 17,600 acres according to the official protected-area area of 71.39 sq km.

So when we say “Vizag is a crowded city,” that's only one side of the picture.
